In Africa, there are four different species of Plasmodium that cause malaria in humans: Plasmodium falciparum, P.vivax, P.malariae and P. ovale. Of these, P. falciparum is the most dangerous and causes the greatest number of deaths.

The general objective of the study is to evaluate the impact and efficacy of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in children under 2 years of age in the Ngaoundéré Rural health district in Cameroon, in order to reduce the incidence of malaria in this specific population.

The study we conducted used a quantitative methodology to assess the impact and efficacy of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in children under 2 years of age in the Ngaoundéré Rural health district in Cameroon.

The results of this study show that malaria continues to weigh heavily on the health of the population. Their impact on the incidence of malaria in Ngaoundéré Rural resulted in a reduction of over 85% in the incidence of malaria attacks and malaria infection. This reduced the prevalence of moderate anemia by 56%.

In conclusion, analysis of the efficacy of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in children under 2 years of age in the Ngaoundéré Rural health district in Cameroon highlights the importance of this intervention in preventing the disease in young children, underlining the potential benefits for public health.

Keywords: Intermittent preventive treatment, malaria, children under 2, health district, Ngaoundéré rural, Cameroon
